This established Victorian building was previously used as a car maintenance repair garage, now transformed by King’s School in Kent for educational use including a theatre, sports and recreational facilities and on-site accommodation.
The Malthouse is a significant heritage asset, although the building is not listed, the site was set within a conservation area, therefore was treated as if it was, in order to preserve the building only essential alterations were made to ensure the original historical appearance was not detracted.
We matched and supplied our custom weathered Pre War Common bricks, which proved to be the most appropriate choice, to accentuate the property.
Due to the sites heritage finding a brick match to satisfy planning officials was paramount. We worked extensively with the project architect to ensure a sympathetic match to the original brick work
The multi award winning project is a fine example of how to re-purpose a building for a range of uses.
